우리 모두의 자유 Freedom for All of Us

지구 곳곳이 국가 폭력과 전쟁, 쿠데타로 흔들리고 있습니다. 국가 간의 수탈과 정권의 억압이 거세지고 있고, 이주민을 향한 혐오와 차별 또한 매서워지고 있습니다.

오늘날 '자유'는 누구에게나 동등하게 주어지지 않습니다. 팔레스타인 민중에게는 하루를 살아낼 생존의 자유가, 미얀마 시민들에게는 독재에 맞설 민주주의의 자유가 박탈되어 있습니다. 한국의 이주노동자들 역시 사업장 이동 제한이라는 제도적 쇠사슬에 묶여, 노동자로서의 가장 기본적인 자유조차 누리지 못하고 있습니다. 누군가에게는 숨 쉬듯 당연한 일상이, 누군가에게는 목숨을 걸어야만 도달할 수 있는 절박한 투쟁이 되는 현실입니다.

올해 이주민독립예술제 토크 <우리 모두의 자유>는 국적과 인종, 신분의 경계를 넘어 인간으로서 누려야 할 보편적 권리인 '자유'의 의미를 다시 묻습니다. 서로 다른 위치에서 자유를 박탈당한 이들의 목소리를 한자리에 모아, 억압과 차별에 맞서는 교차적 연대의 가능성을 탐색하고자 합니다.

어느 한 사람의 자유도 부인되지 않는 세상을 향해, 서로의 존엄을 확인하고 힘껏 연대하는 이 자리에 여러분을 초대합니다.

The world is being shaken by state violence, war, and coups. Plunder between nations and repression by governing regimes are intensifying, and hatred and discrimination against migrants are growing sharper.

Today, "freedom" is not given equally to everyone. The Palestinian people are denied the freedom simply to survive each day; the citizens of Myanmar are deprived of the democratic freedom to resist dictatorship. Migrant workers in Korea, too, are bound by the institutional chains of the ban on changing employers under the Employment Permit System, unable to enjoy even the most basic freedoms as workers. What is as ordinary as breathing for some is, for others, a desperate struggle that demands risking one's life.

This year's Migrant Indie Art Festival Talk, <Freedom for All of Us>, asks anew what "freedom" — the universal right that all human beings deserve — truly means, across the boundaries of nationality, race, and status. By bringing together in one place the voices of those who have been stripped of freedom from different positions, we seek to explore the possibility of intersectional solidarity in the face of oppression and discrimination.

We invite you to this gathering — to affirm one another's dignity and stand together in solidarity — as we move toward a world in which no one's freedom is denied.
